Dye Penetrant
NDT Midlands offer modern and comprehensive liquid penetrant testing service.
This is a NDT method used to detect surface breaking defects in both ferrous and non ferrous materials.
Liquid penetrant is applied to the surface and is drawn into defects by capillary action, excess penetrant is removed and a developer applied to draw out penetrant from defects. Visual inspection is then performed.
The operation is under taken in house through a purpose built water washable NDT system which allows for a cost effective way of testing large batch quantities.
Dye penetrant may be performed on site using red dye colour contrast for the inspection of castings, forgings and welds etc.
